Secular Spirituality is the practice of combining: - The skepticism of **Atheism**. Atheism can help clear everything from the spiritual table, but it doesn't have any claims, which means that there's nothing to build on. Atheism also ignores evidence of how spirituality can be beneficial. - The wisdom, history, and tradition of **Religion**. Religion can teach us a lot about looking outside of materialism for fulfillment but it can, of course, lead to incredibly harmful things like fundamentalism. It also has a "barrier of belief" (per [[Harley, Britt]]) that can be difficult to overcome. - The subconscious reach of the **Occult**. Practices of the Occult, like tarot and crystals, can help the subconscious mind communicate with the conscious mind. But it involves a lot of dubious claims "spiritual bypassing". Secular Spirituality believes that an effective and beneficial personal practice is built using aspects from all three.
