- planning is like an imaginative exercise
- helps turn life into a game
- so we plan out these elaborate curriculums and then realize we don’t have time for all that lol
- and also maybe we don’t *really* care…
- we blame ourselves for being lazy or unmotivated
- and we’re like, “wtf, i thought i liked learning.”
- *remove all the expectations on yourself so learning feels fun and creative*
- thinking on anticurriculum:
- what do i want to learn
- why do i want to learn this?
- basically, do you want to be an expert in this?
- or do you just want *passable* or *conversational* knowledge?
- how much time do i have to learn?
- where is the first immediately-accessible place i can start?
- is there a book i already know i want to read? a video i want to watch?
- what’s already in your mind?
- we’re not going to google and reddit! no window shopping!!!
- anti-curriculum notebook:
- topic map! draw a circle and write your topic…
- learning system with no path <3 let curiosity and intuition guide you.
- RECORD of what we’re learning, NOT a plan.
- write your “immediately accessible” thing to your topic map.
- read / watch ur thing and take notes on the next pages.
- only requirement is to at least journal about the thing you consumed, don’t have to take active notes.
- use those questions or a-ha moments to figure out the next accessible thing for you to read, watch, etc.
- add new thing to topic map :)
